We are home to Welsh Mountain and Shetland Ponies. The stud location is the ideal terrain for both these native ponies. The conditions on the fells can be changable but both Shetlands and Welsh Mountain ponies seem to adapt to the specific weather conditions very easily.

The Old Vicarage Stud lies within the heart of the Northern Pennines overlooking the picturesque village of Carrshield in Northumberland. The farm itself has been present her since the 1600's and stands approximately 1800ft above sea level making us one of the highest studs in the country. The stud has 135 acres of paddocks and fell making it ideal for the native ponies to live upon. We have various facilities at the stud including a stable courtyard and a seperate stallion yard. We have a covering barn for in hand covering and a foaling box with private view facilities so we can keep a close eye on the mare and foal without causing any unecessary stress. The stud also has a solarium for heat treatments and drying facility.
